Adelphi is seeking Interpreters to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a school district in Montgomery County, Virginia. The Interpreter will facilitate communication between students, staff, and others, ensuring full participation in classroom and school activities.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field preferred.
• Current certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential recognized in Virginia.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Deaf culture.
• Ability to interpret in multiple modes as needed, including ASL, RSE, SEE, and tactile signing.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Ability to interpret accurately for extended periods while maintaining clarity and accuracy.
• Ability to lift and move instructional materials or equipment as needed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
• Experience working in school settings preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Provide interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) for students, staff, and others.
• Adapt interpreting methods to student needs, including PSE, SEE, or tactile signing as appropriate.
• Facilitate communication to give deaf and hard-of-hearing students equal access to instruction and activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of conduct and school policies.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and inclusion.
• Support the use of assistive technology and visual aids for communication.
• Participate in team meetings and IEP discussions as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
